The Lens Project! (Part-1)

“Which lens to use is first an emotional decision and then, it is a technical one…”

This is my favorite and immediate answer to one of the two ubiquitous questions that keep coming my way- “Which lens should I buy?"

(The other one of course being- “which camera should I buy?”)

Of course, in the above context, when I say emotional, I largely mean - that the type of lens you will need depends upon what objects you love to shoot, what things you are most emotional about - Wildlife, landscapes, streets, insects, faces…?

But then sometimes, one starts falling in love with the medium itself. And, more often than not... it is the lens ! 

Well, it happens to almost every photographer...

Photography Tip # 11

The most common mistake people make while photographing from a plane is, to put the camera right against the window, making the lens touch the window-glass (In a hope to get closer and to avoid reflections).

Actually, the tiny vibrations caused by the plane engines keep transmitting to the window-glass and can make your photos blurry. 

Try Sitting up tightly on the seat and hold your camera still, the key is to get as close to the window as possible, without actually touching it!

The photograph I have chosen to feature here in this post  is one of the dearest and personal favorite compositions I have created so far.

This is a sight I am blessed enough to enjoy every day, right from the balcony of my place. 

Apparently, in the form of a photograph, this frame might look very simple, but whenever I look at it for real, its aura conveys to me much more...

Two things you can do to improve your photography:

2.Read the manual of your camera! Again! This time, without cheating!

Trust me; you can-not make good photographs until you know your camera like the back of your hand! :)

The Spider & The Moon !

That evening, I returned home disappointed, despite of the fact that it was one of those few rare occasions when the Moon had fascinated me and had inspired me to create images. 

Yes, hundreds of poets and writers have admired the elegance of the moon in thousands of ways, but, for some reason, I am a Sun person. Perhaps because I am a Leo, and they say, Leos are ruled by the Sun…

I stopped on this hilly highway of Cyprus when I saw that huge disc of the Moon... Oh it looked so big, as if it had come several miles closer that evening! The only natural satellite of our Earth had left me spellbound.

Bright and brilliant, assuming this graceful position above that mountain far away, the Moon looked splendid! In the foreground were some wild thorny shrubs where I stood. Pure, cold breeze was blowing as it usually does in vast open spaces like this. Except some occasional cars passing by, there was not any source of light other than the Moon itself. 

But this darkness was beautiful. In its tranquility, in its divine silence, that place looked nothing but surreal.
